Novak Djokovic faces close friend Viktor Troicki on Friday in Melbourne
Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki came through the ranks together in Serbia and the pair are good friends, frequently teaming up for doubles tournaments. That will, however, be put to one side on Friday when they meet in the third round of the Australian Open.
Djokovic is, of course, the favourite, at 1.2 with Coral, and although the odds are low, they may well represent value. The world number three is currently in excellent form and fancies his chances of winning the Australian Open, so facing Troicki, who is 27th in the world, shouldn’t pose too many problems.
The 23-year-old has only been beaten once by Troicki, but that was back in 2007 and on clay, not a surface favoured by Djokovic. The pair played a five-setter in last year’s US Open, which Djokovic came through, after being two sets to one down.
