Australian Open 2010 - Venus Williams v Na Li match preview

Australian Open - Venus Williams v Na Li (Wednesday, January 27, 00:00 GMT)

Number six seed Venus Williams is the 4/9 favourite to win Wednesday's quarter-final with Na Li of China.

The game airs live on bet365, who are also airing every other match from the 2010 Australian Open - LIVE!

The game kicks off the action at Rod Laver Arena with Venus expected to advance and likely set up an all-Williams semi-final clash with her sister, Serena.

But Li, seeded 16th in Melbourne, should not be under-estimated. She impressed in the last round as she knocked out number four seed Caroline Wozniacki and the 7/4 on her causing another shock against Venus will be of interest to some punters.

Li, who withdrew from last year's Australian Open due to a knee injury, has only met Venus once before. That was at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Li won 7-5 7-5.

"I don't really remember because it was one-and-a-half years (ago) already," she said of their previous encounter. "Yeah, so I know the match. I mean, it was good experience for me, for my tennis, also.

"But I just want to forget … I didn't want always think about the last match. I want to looking forward."

Venus had a tougher fourth round tie than Li, coming from one set down to beat Francesca Schiavone 3-6 6-2 6-1.

Overshadowed by Serena, Venus knows that to beat the final, she will almost certainly have to defeat her younger sister, who has won the last four matches between the two.

Asked how she can defeat Serena should they meet in the semi's, Venus simply said: "Play better," adding, "I think it's challenging because we're both so good. We both want to win."

First things first though, and Venus must first ensure she keeps focused against Li. That said, we find it hard to see an upset here. Williams is 6/5 to win in straight sets on Wednesday and 5/2 to win 2-1.
