Tomas Berdych is in fourth round action against Spain's Nicolas Almagro at the Australian Open.
Berdych is closing in on a potential quarter-final with Rafa Nadal and the Czech has been moving through the gears in the past two rounds, seeing off the dangerous Kevin Anderson 7-6(5), 7-6(1), 6-1 in round three.
Anderson has a cannon of a serve and patience was key for Berdych, who had to wait 29 games before finally making a breakthrough on the South African's delivery.
"I got some chances to make a break during the first two sets, but ... he played well, served well and just saved [his serve] every time," Berdych said. "(Even when you break) You still have to stay really focused, because it could be really the tricky moment," he said.
Almagro's making a slightly surprising appearance in the fourth round after some disappointing showings in Chennai and Auckland before the tournament. However despite his professed dislike of hard courts, the tenth seed has looked sharp all week. He dug deep to see off former Wimbledon junior champion Grigor Dimitrov 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-0 in round two before outplaying Stanislas Wawrinka 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-4 on Friday.
Berdych leads 4-2 on the head-to-head and will be confident after beating the Spaniard 6-2, 6-2 in Cincinnati last summer.
