India's best player made it through 3 qualifying rounds and will now have a shot at the main draw.
Sania Mirza advanced through three rounds of qualifying at the 2011 Australian Open and she is back into the main draw of a Grand Slam.
Mirza did not have a good season in 2010 and her ranking is currently way out at 145th. Where exactly Mirza will fall in the women's singles draw is not yet known, however she might end up with a winnable first round match.
Mirza is still just 24 years old and there is time for her to turn her tennis career back on. Making the third round would see her take a significant step toward getting back into the top 100 and, if she stays consistent, she might be able to avoid qualifiers in Grand Slams the rest of the season.
