Belarusian Victoria Azarenka is the first player through to the women's singles quarterfinals after a convincing 6-2 6-2 result against Czech Iveta Benesova.
The No.3 seed won 83 per cent of points when her first serve landed in and cracked 19 winners to her opponent's 16.
It was Azarenka who came up with the goods on the points that mattered most, however she needed five match points to secure the match with Benesova saving the first four with winners.
Azarenka awaits the winner of the match between Agnieszka Radwanska and Julia Goerges.
