Thursday 27.1.2011 Order of Play - Australian Open 2011

Thursday's schedule promises to provide yet another day of thrilling tennis from the Australian Open

The highlight of Thursday's schedule is the mens semi-final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Roger Federer was ousted in the semi's here in 2008 by Djokovic, who went on to win the title. This match provides Federer with a chance to avenge this defeat, but he'll need to be at his best to ensure that Djokovic doesn't get the better of him again. Both players look to be on top form right now. Federer thrashed Stanislas Wawrinka 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 in the quarters, whilst Djokovic recorded an emphatic 6-1, 7-6, 6-1 victory over Tomas Berdych.

The first matchup in the womens singles draw on Thursday will be the semi-final between Caroline Wozniacki and Na Li. Wozniacki is aiming to silence her critics here by finally winning a Slam title. She'll face stiff competition from Li though, who is aiming to become the first Chinese player to win a Slam singles title. Wozniacki has been playing with confidence this week, and did well to navigate her way through a three set quarter-final with Francseca Schiavone (3-6, 6-3, 6-3). Li will need to work hard against the Dane, but has every reason to feel confident about her chances. Li is yet to lose a set here, and hasn't even had to contest a tie-breaker.

In the second womens singles semi-final, Kim Clijsters is up against Vera Zvonareva. Clijsters beat Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1 at last year's U.S Open final, which was the last Slam meeting between the pair. Clijsters also enters this match with a 6-3 head to head record against Zvonareva, and many consider her to be the favourite here. Despite this, Zvonareva has won three of her last four meetings with Clijsters, and claimed a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the last hard court matchup between the pairing. This one could go right down to the wire.

There will also be action from the mens doubles and the mixed doubles competitions.
