Sunday's Australian Open schedule contains a highly anticipated mens singles final between Novak Djokovic and Andy MurraySunday will be a memorable day for tennis fans, as Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will meet in the mens singles final of the Australian Open. Whilst Djokovic and Murray are good friends off the court, there will be no relenting in this Slam final contest. Djokovic is attempting to reclaim the title that he won back in 2008, whilst Murray is vying for the first Slam title of his career. This will be his third Slam final.
Djokovic leads the head to head record between the pairing 4-3, though Murray won his last three matches against the Serb. Remarkably, all of Murray's victories took place on hard courts, and all were finished in straight sets. It would be unwise to get overly enthused about Murray's chances though, as the most recent of these matches was in 2009, and Djokovic has been in menacing form in Melbourne. His three-set demolition of Roger Federer was nothing short of superb, so it looks like Murray will have to dig deep to succeed.
Sunday's schedule will also include the mixed doubles final of Yung-Jan Chan and Paul Hanley versus Katarina Srebotnik and Daniel Nestor. Nestor and Srebotnik will enter this match as favourites to win against their unseeded opponents.
