The Dutchman takes the opening set in Melbourne before A-Rod powered through to fourth round
Andy Roddick did not have an easy match on Day 5 of the 2011 Australian Open as most of the weak players are gone by the third round in a Grand Slam draw. He faced Robin Haase, a talented player but one that has suffered from injury during significant parts of his career.
True to his history, Haase played sharp as he took the first set off of Roddick, however the Dutch national did not have much after his body began to fail him - a trademark of his career so far.
Roddick, as a lot of the top seeds have done in Melbourne this year, made good on a comeback as he defeated Haase 2-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-2.
With the victory Roddick stays alive in Roger Federer's quarter and the American will face the winner of the Stanislas Wawrinka versus Gael Monfils match, one that will also be played on day 5.
Roddick, though playing well, is unlikely to make it past the quarterfinals at this year's Melbourne draw as Federer, time and time again, has been too big of a hurdle for the hot-serving American to clear.
