Fourth seed Andy Murray has cruised into the semifinals of AO2012 with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 win over Japan's Kei Nishikori at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday.
The in-form Scot has dropped just one set in the tournament to date, and he never looked like losing another during the two hour and 12 minute quarterfinal against Nishikori.
To be fair to the 24-seeded Japanese player he did create break point opportunities in the first set, but was unable to convert them and Murray closed out the first set.
Nishikori rallied briefly in the second set when he broke Murray's serve, having been broken in the first game himself. However, when the Scot broke him again in the following game and then held, the result looked inevitable.
Murray will be slightly concerned that he landed only 44% of his first serves, but that aside he managed another convincing win and a deserved place in the semifinals.
