With Andy Murray's fans threatening to relieve them of a seven-figure sum had he won the Australian Open, bookies William Hill were celebrating his exit earlier today.
"Punters had backed his Grand Slam odds down from 500/1 to 50/1 and we were inundated with four figure bets for Murray to win the Aussie Open, for which he started joint favourite - he was the best backed British player in a Slam event ever," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
"However, the support for him to win Wimbledon when it comes round is likely to smash all tennis betting records."
But Murray is now 4/7 not to win any of the four Grand Slam events in 2009 with Hills who make him 6/4 to win one, 10/1 to win two and 150/1 to win all three remaining to him.
Hills have also eased the odds about him ending the year as world number one from 5/1 to 6/1.
Murray is now 16/1 with Hills to win the French Open, 7/2 to win Wimbledon and 7/2 to win the US Open.
