Kim Clijsters has claimed that she is not getting ahead of herself at this year’s Australian Open and the number three seed won’t be drawn on her chances of winning the tournament.

However, the Belgian is one of the favourites and it would be a massive shock if she failed to beat Dinara Safina in the opening round on Tuesday.

Safina is a former world number one and was a finalist in Melbourne as recently as 2009. Since then injuries and erratic form have really hurt the Russian, who is now ranked 75th. She is better than that and at 24-years-old she is far from finished, but it could take a while for Safina to get back to her former glories and the match with Clijsters is far too early.
